To get a Pristine Adegan Crystal from one of these Rough Magenta Crystal Shards, use the Ancient Crystal Tuning Device at (-136, +892, +88) in The Forge on Tython (this is near the matrix shard datacron). How to get into a good guild: (This works for almost any game)

1. Play the game.  Seriously.  Don’t try to pick a guild before you play.  Its a crap shoot at that point.  Continue on to figure out why.
2. As you play, group up with people.  When you group, be social.  Say hello when you enter a group, chat with your groupmates during downtime.
3. When you group with someone who you liked grouping with, add them to your friend’s list.  This is the important part.  You want to build connections.  Even if you never join a guild, having a list of good players in your friends list will make your life infinitely easier, especally if they are people you geniunely enjoy playing with.
4. Make yourself desirable to good guild.  This means read up on your class and what the proper rotation/builds are, keep your gear up to date, carry consumables, be informed of what the fights are.  Basically, you should want to be Credit to Team instead of Little Tiny Man.  You don’t need to be theorycrafting to try to squeeze out that extra 0.01% dps, in fact its ok if you suck, as long as you’re trying.  Its very easy to tell who is trying and who is lazy.
5. When you group, look for those guys on your friends list and invite them along.  Not only will this create friendships but it’ll if you added them to your friend’s list that means you like playing with them, so it’ll make your grouping experience more fun.
6. If you do this enough and are not guilded, I will garentee you someone will invite you to their guild.  I would recommend trying to get to know other people in the guild before you join, and do a little diligence on them first.  Check their guild forums or the server forums to see if they have a bad reputation of problem players. You’ll probably get someone who invites you to their guild after the first time grouping with them even if you haven’t said a word.  This should be considered no better then people who spam local.

Above all else remember this:  The easier it is for you to get in, the easier it is for an asshole to get in, and the easier it is for assholes to get in, the more assholes will be in.

RED FLAGS:

Spam invites or invites anyone from local:  Avoid these guilds, they have no sense of identity and no sense of cohesion or loyality.

Nice to you and other guildies: but treats everyone else like shit: These are at best elitist assholes and at worst complete assholes with enough restrain to organize.  Ultimately these people only help the guild to help themselves.

The guildmaster only logs in for 2 hours a week:  There is nothing wrong with enjoying a game casually, but you shouldn’t be running a guild if your not willing to put the time in.

The leadership is constantly bickering: Its probably best to avoid this situation.  Every guild has a certain level of drama but it should be the problem players vrs the leadership rather then the leadership itself fighting.  If that happens a split is almost inevitable.

If it seems like a guild is trying to take advantage of you, they probably are:  In other words if they expect you to farm for 3 hours to create stims to give them to the guild and threaten to punish you in some way if you don’t, it’s time to hit the road.  If they expect you to pay credits as an entry fee or dues, don’t join.  Of course, combing wealth for something mutually beneficial is different.  If the guild expects you to chip in some credits so they can provide you and everyone else for stims cheaply, thats entirely different.

Updated: April 9 – Added Black Hole commendation drop rate  from Hardmode EC and two new “variants” of Black Hole gear.

Hey everyone, with the upcoming release of 1.2, there will be two new PvE endgame armor sets to “grind” for. One is the Black Hole MK-1 armor set which can be purchased via Black Hole Commendations that drops from Nightmare Karagga’s Palace, storymode/hardmode Explosive Conflict, and Corellia Black Hole weekly. The other is the Campaign set whose tokens drops from hardmode Explosive Conflict bosses. Hardmode EC bosses/chests also drops Black Hole MK-2, MK-3 pieces directly (i.e. you get the specific armor pieces, not tokens).

Black Hole gear has 3 variants: MK-1, MK-2, MK-3. MK-1 is vendor brought via Black Hole Commendations (except for weapons). MK-2, and MK-3 are direct drops from Hardmode Explosive Conflict.

For the Black Hole Commendations, the current drop rates are 2 per boss  and 4 per chest found in storymode Explosive Conflict. Hardmode Explosive Conflict drops 4 per boss and 4 per chest. Nightmare KP bosses also drop 2 Black Hole Commendations per boss (not verified yet). Corellia Black hole weekly will reward you with 6 Black Hole commendations per week.

If you are clearing both storymode EC and Nightmare KP weekly, you can expect at least 2x 4 + 2×5 = 18 Black Hole Commendations weekly just from the bosses. Doing Corellia weekly will grant you an additional 6 more, totaling 24 Black Hole Commendations. With the drop from chests (2 chests found so far in EC, players have reported 3 chest in total), you can expect 30-40+ Black Hole Commendations per week as a rough estimate. If you are clearing Hardmode EC as well, you can expect at least 20-30 more Black Hole comms, totaling 50-60 Black Hole Comms per week.

The prices for the Black Hole gear are listed below. Keep in mind that the vendor does not sell any weapons (mainhand for most classes, mainhand + offhand for dual wielding classes) or relics.

For Campaign gear, it is simply 1:1 exchange of the tokens you loot from bosses like you do currently for Rakata gear. The Campaign vendor does not sell any ear/implants. Campaign relics can be brought for 200 Daily Commendations from the Mission Support Vendor on Ilum/Corellia/Belsavis.

I originally wanted to do an old Rakata vs newly itemized Rakata and “new” Rakata vs Campaign gear comparison to give you a feel of how much stats change when you upgrade to the next tier. Unfortunately, with the recent itemization changes back and forth on the PTS for both Rakata and Battlemaster, I will wait abit before doing so and update this page when I do.

Patch 1.2: Tank Guardian First Impressions

With patch 1.2 not far off, everyone is preparing for what changes this might be to their played class. For the Jedi Guardian, a lot of changing are incoming. Most, however, are not aimed at the Defense Guardian. A few key changes are on the horizon that may help the Guardian, as a whole, in the long run, including a brand new ability.

Relevant 1.2 Patch Notes:
•Added Focused Defense, a new ability that allows the Guardian to spend Focus to lower threat. While active, one point of Focus is spent each time damage is taken to heal the Guardian for a small amount. This ability is usable while stunned and is not limited by the global cool down.

Defense
•Blade Barrier is now located in Tier 4 of the skill tree.
•Blade Storm no longer consumes stacks of Courage while the “Momentum” buff is active.
•Command no longer reduces the cool down of Challenging Call and is now located in Tier 5 of the skill tree.
•Dust Storm is now a 3-point skill that provides the same overall effect.
•Guardian Slash now generates 50% additional threat.
•Momentum is now a 2-point skill that provides the same overall effect.
•Pacification is now a 1-point skill with a slightly reduced overall effect.
•Shield Specialization is now located in Tier 5 of the skill tree.
•Stasis Mastery is now located in Tier 4 of the skill tree.

Focus (Guardian)

•Swelling Winds is now located in Tier 1 of the Focus skill tree. It increases the damage dealt by Force Sweep and Cyclone Slash and reduces the cool down of Force Sweep.

Vigilance

•Single Saber Mastery is no longer restricted to certain stances.

What does this mean? For the most part, it seems that the Defense tree is not changing at all. Most things are simply getting shuffled around, while Guardian Slash is receiving a slight buff. Pacification is also receiving a nerf along with Command. Sadly, without the Challenging Call component of Command, it is now quite worthless, as it only lowers the CD of Force push. Since the Defense tree is losing 3 points of talents in total, that frees up some points to take up Single Saber Mastery from the Vigilance tree, which now affects Guardians in Soresu. I also have unconfirmed reports that Swelling Winds is being reduced to a 2 point skill adding only 20% damage to Cyclone Slash and Force Sweep.

I don’t fully understand the purpose of nerfing Command, given that AoE threat was the Guardian’s weakness, but now at least it seems Cyclone Slash will be more viable. Force Sweep took a slight nerf, but will still be our hardest hitting AoE attack. Sadly, Blade Barrier has not been buffed yet. Our single target threat gets an improvement, but that was never particularly lacking to begin with. Focused Defense also affords us another defensive cool down, but sadly, reduces threat, which is not desired for a tank. You can, however, use it while stunned, which is a huge plus.

Specing as a Defense Guardian will now afford you more points to put in other trees. As such, you will likely no longer have to put more than 31 talent points in Defense to fully round out your survival. Extra points can be spent on things like Master Focus(which now makes Master Strike deal more damage but does not lower the CD on Force Stasis), Single Saber Mastery, and Defiance. This will allow the Defense Guardian to be a little more versatile in its role, as well as do more damage, which is another of the specs weak points. The changes to talent locations actually allow for more hybrid specializing than ever before, with Blade Barrier and Stasis Mastery coming down far enough to be reached by Vigilance/Defense hybrid Guardians.

Gear in 1.2:

Synthweaving
•Synthweavers can now learn schematics allowing the creation of Strength, Willpower, Defense, Alacrity, and Presence Augments. Augments can be reverse engineered for a chance to research Prototype and Artifact quality schematics.
•Critical successes while crafting Custom (orange) outfits will add an Augment slot to the resulting item.
•Additional lower-level light armor schematics have been added.
•Material requirements for some Custom (orange) outfits have changed.
•The Codex entry for Synthweaving has been updated.
•Synthweavers can now reverse engineer random armor drops with Strength or Willpower stats.

One big change that is on the way in the new patch will be gear. You will now be able to critically craft orange, moddable gear with augment slots in it as well as be able to remove armoring mods from your purple armor pieces. The armoring mods will also carry with them the set bonus. This means that potentially every moddable armor slot will be able to have an augment in it. Augments will also be craftable and available to certain professions. This makes synthweaving one of the top crew skill choices for Jedi, since synthweavers are the ones able to craft Jedi armor. Jedi Knights in particular benefit from this since our female companion, Kira Carson, has a +5 critical bonus to synthweaving, so start stocking up on mats now. You will also be able to reverse engineer armor pieces and acquire the schematic to make them, including moddable armor

Trash
For the most part it was easy, the adds spawning from the tanks on the walls, were not as surprising as the devs may have intended, we noticed them before each pull and cc’d accordingly. We didn’t expect the medics to shield rakghouls and would love to see more mechanics added to trash that increases the difficulty of fights.Lr-5 droid.
Easily the hardest fight in the instance for us, partly due to our group makeup. Missing an interrupt on either of his 2 abilities means almost certain death. That said, once you have people assigned to counter those moves the fight becomes a lot more simple. The adds dont really hit that hard and the lava that comes up through the floor really dont do much either. It becomes a case of the just dragging the boss around the room and avoiding the ever growing plasma balls.Project Sav-Rak.
As i said earlier we watched all the mechanics a few times, looking for both the intended route to success and any loop holes. It seemed to us that the intended path to beating this boss was to stand with your back to one of the 3 pillars so when he does his smash you bounce back. This in practice did appear to work, with a few exceptions when i and others in my group appeared to pass directly through said pillar, i will admit this could just be us failing.
With that said, we did not beat him using his method. We quickly realized that the angle you get thrown by Sav is directly linked to how close you are standing to him. This means standing on top of him throws you directly upwards thus negating any risk of falling in the fiery pit below. Then it becomes a simple matter of leaving the healer in the middle and having the 3 other people push the buttons on the pillars to burn him.
If i were to change anything about this fight it would be to fix our ‘loophole’. I would have preferred to have the added difficulty of positioning in the fight.Transgenic Sample 11.
The fight is very simple yet entertaining. Simply walk away from him when ever the ice is falling and then return to dps as fast as you can.
We tested this fight quite a few times, and enjoyed it very much. We were unable to find any dead zones where the ice spikes did not fall, we even had our poor operative run up the ramp, an act he quickly regretted when he was turned into a Sample 11 Popsicle.
We found the enrage timer on this fight to be very harsh and enjoyed the challenge. We can see this being a problem for lesser geared groups.

Doctor Lorrick.
Ill start by saying this fight is epic and if its any indication of how the new operation is setup we are extremely excited!
This boss has two phases and ill cover each.
PHASE ONE
The first phase has multiple parts. He starts off by throwing green goo on the ground, standing in it will give you an dot which will stack for ever increasing damage. Pretty simple, dont stand in bad stuff.
His second attack is 4 sets of satchel charge. These attach to any players in a frontal cone and explode after a few seconds. They hit me (jugg tank) for ruffly 5k each. I found the best thing to do was have everyone run away except for myself, then run around him in a tight circle. Doing this will mean he misses every time and saves you a big repair bill.
Immediately after his satchel attack he will teleport into the back of a rakghoul tank starting with the one to his left. He will stay in the back until he has finished releasing a rakghoul from within. We were able to dps the tank so that when the ghoul was eventually released it was on little or no hp. We assume this is intended and fully suggest doing so.
He will now repeat his first phase attacks until he gets near to death. Its worth noting that this is a dps check phase. As he got further around the room releasing rakghouls from tanks, the level of ghoul increased.
As he nears death he will spawn a number of flaming rakghouls. They move at a steady pace and if they reach you or any member of your group they will cc you and place a medium damage dot on you for a short time. This is easily countered with situational awareness and kiting the boss away from them.
SECOND PHASE
After the flaming ghouls begins the second phase. This is a straight dps race.. as far as we could tell. Lokin has now transformed into a giant rakghoul with an area wide aoe dot. The best way to beat him was to stand with your back against the wall and dps for all your worth. As the dot gains in stacks so does the amount of dmg it does to you.
We looked for any way to remove this dot and could not find anything, this does not mean it doesnt exist, just that we didnt find it. If there is a way, it should be noted we didn’t need it.

Final thoughts
Our general thoughts overall were that it was a fantastic instance, the mechanics of the fights were fresh and a number of people felt that it gave new life to the game.
As far as the loot and difficulty is concerned i offer 2 solutions. The first is I would love to see the difficulty remain unchanged and instead offer tokens towards earning black hole gear. I beg you to choose this option over nerfing the instance.
By changing the loot in this fashion it will give guilds a reason to do this hard mode for weeks if not months to come and offer an additional way to earn the next tier of gear when they are locked out of raid content.
If you choose the other option and make this Hard Mode easier then people with columi/rakata gear will only run it once, or not at all. This would be a shame given what a fantastic job you have done on it.
